Jim Bardwell
Jim is from South Louisiana, where the art of descriptive storytelling is a time-honored tradition. Jim’s love of people and his need for a fast-paced, exciting, and merit-driven vocation naturally led him to a career in sales and marketing. He has spent the last two decades working for and with some of the most successful, high end cleaning and restoration companies in the country.
Jim’s accomplishments in this field has led to opportunities to share his experience both as a consultant and speaker sharing the stage with Zig Ziglar, John Maxwell, Howard Partridge, Coach Micheal Burt and many other distinguished speakers and trainers. Jim is a Ziglar Legacy Certified Trainer and a DISC Certified Trainer personally trained by Robert A. Rohm Ph.D. Fun side note: Jim was a cast member on a business-based reality TV show! (And yes, he won!)
Jim resides in beautiful Middle Tennessee with his wife Rebekah and their two children. He has recently joined Fiber Protector America as the Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and Education for North, Central and South America.

Paul Bakker
Paul is a Textile Chemist with a Masters Degree from Manchester University, where he researched the dyeing of protein fibres, specifically silk.
He is the Chairman of The WoolSafe Organisation, and is based in England.
Between 1970 and 1994 Paul worked for the International Wool Secretariat as a carpet technologist, specialising in carpet performance evaluation, colouration, carpet properties, hygiene, maintenance and testing. He was part of a team that developed wool carpet printing, antistatic treatments, soil resist and stainblocking technologies. From 1994 till 1997 he was Wools of New Zealand’s Manager of Contract Carpet Development.
In the late 1980s Paul started work on developing a testing and approval programme for carpet and rug maintenance products, which in 1991 culminated in the launch of what is now the WoolSafe programme.
After leaving Wools of New Zealand he set up The WoolSafe Organisation in 1998, which gradually grew into the independent certification and cleaning-related services body devoted to promoting best practice in carpet and rug care through maintenance product evaluation and certification, promoting networks of carpet cleaning companies, inspectors and the distribution of maintenance information.
Paul has acted as a member, and later chairman, of the BSI committee that developed BS 4088, Carpet Cleaning Products.
He was chairman from 1989-2000 of the ISO Working Group that developed four international standards for carpet soiling and cleaning.
Later, Paul was a Consultant to the Technical Committee TC 129, Floorings, on carpet maintenance standard development from 2006 – 2010.

Agnes Zsednai
Ágnes was educated in Hungary, and got her degree in Chemistry at the Jozsef Attila University (now called University of Szeged); where she first worked in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, investigating the acidic behaviour of Osmium compounds.
Later she worked at the Department of Colloid and Surface Chemistry at the same University, teaching undergraduates and doing research work. She obtained her doctoral degree in colloid chemistry for the theoretical research on the displacement enthalpies of binary liquid mixtures on solid surfaces.
Having moved to England in 1985, she worked in a research group of ICI Agrochemicals in the Plant Protection Division, Bracknell, Berkshire. She investigated the rheological properties of pesticide suspensions.
She joined The WoolSafe Organisation in February 2002 after a career break due to family commitments. In 2006 she was appointed to be Technical Director and became responsible for the WoolSafe accreditation programme for carpet maintenance products worldwide.

Chris Howell
Chris Howell is the President and founder of Colorful Carpets, based in Baltimore, Maryland. He is recognized as being one of the leading experts on carpet and rug color restorations in the world. Chris started his company in 2000 after the family dog ruined brand new carpeting in their home, and was unable to find anyone who could fix the problem. Colorful Carpets specializes in repairing bleach spots on carpeting and developed the extra specialization of restoring intricately-patterned Persian Rugs following an article that was written about them in the Washington Post newspaper. Many of the readers of the article contacted Chris with issues of rugs that were in need of color repair. There were no books to teach how to do this, nor was there any type of equipment that was designed specifically for these intricate color restorations. So Colorful Carpets designed and built a pressurized airbrush system that could be used to control the temperature, volume, and delivery of the dyes, enabling them to perform very intricate color restorations on rugs in a timely manner.
Chris travels around the world, offering expert training for individuals who wish to learn this exciting and unusual art form.

Mel Maher, owner of NC Carpet Binding & Equipment will be displaying machinery at Rug Summit 10. Rug Restoration & Cleaning Companies rely on NC for all their carpet shearing, serging, binding, fringing, carving, & rug finishing supplies. Our USA Made products provide rug experts with a supplemental income stream. ARCS Members and rug experts worldwide, have employed NC Machines and supplies since the 1950's. UPDATE
The Baronette Renaissance Detroit-Novi Hotel is full for the standard discounted rooms. However, we are granted 10 premier rooms at a discounted rate, September 29th and 30th. (September 28th group rates have been booked and are now unavailable.) This rate would be $199 (discounted from $259).
Booking for these rooms expires on September 5th and is strictly based on availability.
There are some additional hotel options in the area, but those needing transportation will be shuttled only from the Baronette Renaissance Detroit-Novi Hotel.
